The Town of Lisbon was established in 1836.   The Township consists of approximately 30 square miles surrounding the Village of Sussex, and has a population of 9079.  

There are 52 subdivisions and a Mobile Home park in the Town.

The Town Hall is located at W234 N8676 Woodside Road.   The Town Office is open Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. (262-246-6100).   The Town Board consists of a chairman and four supervisors who work with three other appointed or elected officials: a town administrator/clerk, a treasurer, and an assessor.   The Township also has a Municipal Building, which houses the Highway Department, the Police Department, and the Fire Department on ten acres at the corner of Good Hope Road and Hillside Road.

The Highway Department has a crew of six full time employees lead by the DPW Director.

The Police Department consists of a Police Chief and both full time and part time officers who work to provide police protection to the residents of the Town of Lisbon.   The Waukesha County Sheriff's Department also furnishes police protection when our officers are not on duty.

Fire protection and emergency medical services are furnished by the Lisbon Fire Department.  The department consists of a Fire Chief, Deputy Chief, One Captain, Four Lieutenants, 20 EMTs/Firefighters, and 2 full time EMT/firefighters responding to over 400 calls per year.  Check out the Fire Department web site at

The Park Department has a Park Superintendent and several part time personnel who maintain the parks.   The town has six parks:  Town Hall Park on Woodside Road; Stone Family Park on Plainview Road; Stoney C. Halquist Park on CTH K; Fred Keller Athletic Field on Good Hope Road; Lisbon Oaks Park in Woodland Oaks subdivision; and Lisbon Community Park (120 acre site) on Oakwood Road.   Go to Parks home page from here.

Recreation: The Parks Dept. also sponsors many activites including the DISCOUNT TICKET program for area attractions such as Six Flags, Noah's Ark, and others.   Also, Lisbon & Sussex co-sponsor summer park events.  Go to the Park Recreation web page to get info on all activities.

The town is home to 3 churches:   Lighthouse Baptist Church; Lisbon Presbyterian Church; and Redeemer United Church of Christ;   (Directory)

Arrowhead District: Richmond Elementary, Merton Elementary, and Arrowhead High School.
Hamilton District: Templeton Middle, Maple Avenue, Lannon Elementary, Woodside Elementary,

The Town is served by the Pauline Haass Public Library.   Stop in and sign up for a library card.   All you need is current identification and it only takes a few minutes.   You can get your card and walk out with an armload of books, videos, cassettes, and CDs in the same visit.
